THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN

Katie Ray expertly leads the production as Rachel, the complicated girl at the heart of the story. She perfectly navigates us through flashbacks and gaps in her memory with a sense of authenticity and sensitivity, committing to a truly incredible performance and keeping true to the flawed nature of her character.

Katie Ray shined as lead Rachel, giving a truly memorable performance. Ray embodied the complexities of Rachel’s character perfectly, from her inner turmoil, shown in her desperate voicemails to her ex-husband, to her growing confidence in herself as she begins to fill the “black holes” in her memories and discovers the truth. Despite her unravelling, we see Rachel develop before our eyes and Ray truly commands the stage with her multi-faceted portrayal. Despite Rachel being such a tragic character, Ray adds a touch of humour to her performance too which was well-received, making her character more relatable.

Ray is a strong lead, a believable drunk trying to remember what happened. She is clearly engaged emotionally with the characters’ experiences and shares her frustration and journey with the audience.

Katie Ray gives a truly outstanding performance as Rachel Watson, bringing out every available nuance in the character.  The pain and hurt the character feels comes through in spades, and the character becomes more likeable, and relatable, than in the previous version

Katie Ray gives a savvy performance as Rachel Watson, making her a likeable character so that it’s easy to route for her.

Katie Ray gives a strong, convincing performance as Rachel, carrying the production with a mix of fragility, humour and dogged determination to fill in the gaps in her story.

Katie Ray’s acting in The Girl on the Train is superb and she really steps into the shoes of the ‘Rachel Watson’ character. Her portrayal of an alcoholic was delicate yet powerfully distinct;

TENDERLY - ROSEMARY CLOONEY SHOW

"Katie Ray’s portrayal of (Rosemary) Clooney is flawless. She embodies the style and character with grace and fiery passion. She guides us through the story with ease, both sexy and heartbreakingly vulnerable. As performances go, this is one I won’t be forgetting anytime soon."

"But the show stands or falls on the marathon performance of Ray, barely offstage throughout, and here producer Joseph Hodges, director Tania Azevedo and casting director Harry Blumenau have struck lucky. This versatile lady proves well up to the task, whether vocally with 20 songs to deliver, tackling a couple of lively dance routines with Zanni, or acting her socks off in the bad old druggy days."

"Katie Ray embodies Rosemary (Clooney) perfectly with a fierce and emotional performance that's truly outstanding. Her facial expressions and movement throughout are delightful as are her wonderful vocals. Ray's voice is powerful and filled with emotion. Whilst she is wonderful at all times, the breakdown in act two is especially mesmerising and heart-wrenching."

"Katie Ray plays Rosemary (Clooney) and her voice is stunning. She plays the role with fragility and sassiness tinged with a deep seated need to be loved."

MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET

The best voice of the night has to be Katie Ray who plays Dyanne, Elvis Presley’s girlfriend at the time. Each song she joined in with was a joy to listen to and often a rest from the hard drum beat of the other songs. All of the songs had you tapping your feet and even dancing during the final encore.

'Vocally the highlight of the production came from Katie Ray as Elvis’ then girlfriend Dyanne who gave a spine tingling rendition of “Fever”.'

'...brilliant renditions of tracks including "Walk the Line", "Great Balls of Fire" and "Fever" (the latter a showstopper from Katie Ray as Presley's girlfriend).'

'The star vocally and visually though is Katie Ray as the motorbike riding, child loving Truly Scrumptious. This is no better highlighted than ‘Doll on a Music Box’ when she delivers the song with such beauty that she tears at the heartstrings while also showing Peter Crouch a thing or two about robotic movement.'
